About me!
My name is Melissa Weaver (she / her). I share space with Penny, a young calico cat who loves digging in dirt, exploring the local park, and eating plants. She's a bit of an herbalist herself. I'm endlessly curious, especially about stories told through nature and flavor. In my free time, I can be found cooking, brewing, and beekeeping.

Growing and sharing plants has always been a passion of mine, and will continue to be wherever life takes me. I’ve put a few grow bags on the concrete slab behind my Brooklyn apartment, where I’ve been able to tend herbs, pollinator flowers, peppers, tomatoes, and other vegetables. While I can’t feed the neighborhood, I can share small green gifts with them. By doing so I hope to inspire others to seek freshness and food autonomy. I live for when people tell me they never realized they could grow larger plants in the city until they met me, and that they’ve since gained confidence to enjoy and care for a few.
In 2017, I participated in my first psychedelic experience among community and nature. Ultimately, the experience accelerated my journey towards authentic self-acceptance and healing from chronic pain. Having consulted friends and family through these journeys of discovery and expansion, I am humbled by the transformative wisdom of all plants; how these teachers can help us connect more deeply to ourselves and to the worlds around us. Since then, I have pursued multiple holistic educations in Reiki through community leaders, Auricular Detox Specialization through the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association, and Vitalist Herbalism through the Terra Sylva School of Botanical Medicine. Much like different aspects of my life, I experience these educations as overlapping, filling in the gaps at each others edges.
